An original independent science research competition. The BioGENEius Challenge is the most prestigious high school science competition in the world for original research in biotechnology.

When is it?: The 2022 Georgia BioGENEius Challenge will take place on Friday, March 31st, 2023 during the Georgia Science & Engineering Fair (GSEF). The GA BioGENEius judges selected 1 winner and 1 alternate for the competition.

Winners are announced Saturday afternoon, April 1, at the GSEF Awards event.

What Do You Win?The winner of the Georgia competition will receive a travel award to compete as a finalist in the International BioGENEius Challenges with students from around the country at the BIO International Convention in Boston, MA from June 5th to June 8th, 2023.

One (1) state finalist will be selected during the competition, and winner and alternate of the local BioGENEius Challenge will be notified the next day and announced in a press release. The winner of the Georgia competition will receive a travel award (hotel, airfare, petty cash) to compete as a finalist in the International BioGENEius Challenge with students from around the country at the BIO International Convention.  You will have a chance to compete for cash prizes totaling $20,000.
