FDA Broadens Availability of Telethermographic Systems During Pandemic
The FDA said it will not object to the use of non-approved devices for measuring body temperatures for triage of patients during the coronavirus outbreak.
Specifically, the agency said it will allow a change of indication for the non-contact telethermographic devices so they can be used for initial body temperature measurements.
The devices should be labeled to advise users to confirm temperature readings with a secondary evaluation method, the agency said.
