Meet Ricky Lowe, Manager of Bioinformatics & Data Management at AKESOgen, Inc.

Enjoy this interview with Ricky Lowe, Manager of Bioinformatics & Data Management at AKESOgen, Inc. Lowe graduated from the University of Georgia with Bachelor’s degrees in Biology and English, and later went on to earn a Master’s degree in Biotechnology & Bioinformatics from Johns Hopkins University. AKESOgen is a biomarker, genomics, and pharmacogenomics CRO company that services the academic, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and agricultural sectors, based in Norcross, Georgia.

In his interview, Lowe discusses working in the extraction lab, extracting DNA from stool, blood, and saliva samples. He traces his fascination with genetics back to being enthralled by Punnett squares in elementary school.

“My advice to biology students is to know that, once you get your Bachelor’s in biology, you’re not done with school!”

A big thank you to Ricky Lowe for participating in our “Careers in Life Sciences” series, and thanks to AKESOgen, Inc. We at Georgia Bio are proud of the work they do to make Georgia a leader in the biosciences industry.
