We are excited to announce the next round of the Rural Teacher Training Initiative! On March 10th, we will launch “Biotech Infusion,” an immersive, hands-on professional development opportunity for non-biotech science teachers in rural middle and high schools. Participants will learn and practice several biotech techniques and concepts that integrate within all science disciplines, from biology and chemistry, to healthcare and agriculture.
All sessions will meet virtually on Wednesdays from 4:15 to 6:15 pm via Zoom. The schedule is as follows:
- 3/10: Pipetting, Industry Speaker
- 3/17: DNA Extraction, Industry Speaker
- 3/24: Separation Techniques (chromatography and gel electrophoresis)
- 3/31: Implementation Planning, Industry Speaker
We have a few last-minute openings for participants. Participants will receive a $150 stipend for their time, and two professional-grade micropipettes along with the supplies for the hands-on labs.
