Babylon Health launches Covid-19 symptom tracker
Digital healthcare app Babylon has launched a new service designed to assist patients with checking health symptoms that may be associated with Covid-19.
The Covid-19 Care Assistant is free for Babylon members and allows patients to check their symptoms, monitor their illness and attend a virtual consultation with a doctor if necessary.
Users are also given access to a bespoke care plan and information to help them cope with their symptoms in self-isolation.
The programme checks symptoms using an artificial intelligence (AI) chat service, which asks questions about symptoms and provides information on possible next steps. Symptoms can be continually monitored and advice provided by team members and doctors can be revisited, if patients need further details.
The app also contains continually-updated information and videos on how to self-manage Covid-19, care for others with the disease and minimise contamination.
Babylon’s Covid-19 Care Assistant will also refer a patient for hospital care when needed.
The app can be downloaded for free on Google Play or the Apple App Store, and making an account is free.
Babylon CEO and founder Dr Ali Parsa said: “Covid-19 is the biggest public health threat to our communities for nearly a century and Babylon has a huge obligation to help. We know how hard governments and healthcare systems are working to battle this pandemic and fully support their tireless work.
“We were founded to help tackle the challenges of accessibility and affordability of healthcare for every person on earth by using technology to increase the reach and impact of healthcare professionals.
“The combination of our technology and clinical service allows our doctors and nurses to use their time for the most suited tasks, whilst amplifying their expertise for the benefit of all our patients. We stand ready to help our communities in any way we can and in any manner they need.”
