Director, U.S. State Government Affairs, Johnson & Johnson

Ashley Groome is Director, U.S. State Government Affairs for at Johnson and Johnson, covering Georgia, South Carolina and Florida. Ashley is responsible for the Company’s engagement and communication with state and local government officials, and leads state legislative and regulatory initiatives impacting products, therapies, and health solutions across the entire Johnson & Johnson enterprise.

Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Ashley spent nearly 13 years working in corporate consulting and lobbying in the state of Georgia, most recently holding the position of Director of Interoffice Collaboration and Client Growth for McGuireWoods Consulting where she lobbied on behalf of a variety of interests including pharmaceutical, health care, chemical, and environmental industries, as well as tax policy and emerging technologies. Prior to this role, Ashley was Director of Government Relations for Waste Management, a regional role where she managed a team of government affairs professionals in offices throughout the Southeastern United States. Before joining Waste Management, Ashley was a civil litigator with Carlock Copeland in Atlanta, and served as a legislative aide for Fulton County, Georgia. She also has previous experience as a television reporter with Georgia Public Broadcasting and at WRBL, a CBS affiliate in Columbus, Georgia. She has previously served on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the Agape Community Center, NewPower PAC, and the Council for Quality Growth.  She currently serves on the State Board for the Georgia Youth Science and Technology Center.

Ashley lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her son, Will (age 7), and her husband, Brian.

Ashley holds a B.A. in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Georgia and a J.D. from Georgia State University’s School of Law.
